Okay, it's finally finished! I've been working on this for a little over a week. This is enigmaticdrgn's character Mychasi. He's blue and plays a flute on occasion, so for the Halloween DAX (a little late, I know), it made sense to dress him up as Krishna!
Now, Krishna is one of my two most beloved deities, so I wanted to make the decorations as accurate as possible; therefore, a great deal of the time spent was focused on researching costume pieces and trying to work Mychasi's tattoos, jewelry, and symbolism into the typical Krishna costume.
I think I'm going to offer commissions like these - peoples' characters dressed up as deities! COPYRIGHT WEEE HAHAH
I'm so glad you like it! It was a particularly special undertaking for me since Krishna is one of the deities I hold dear.
Eh hehehehe, and well it should sound familiar! ^_^ Krishna is one of the most famous and well-known figures in Hinduism. He’s the blue guy whom all the girlies like so much.
Well, to start out, he’s an avatar – a human incarnation – of Vishnu, the Preserver God of the primary Hindu trinity (Brahma, the Creator; Vishnu, the Preserver; and Shiva, the Destroyer – all other deities are associated somehow with the primary three). Vishnu is incarnated on Earth when the world needs saving somehow, and Krishna was the incarnation that came when people were beginning to forget how important it is to do one’s duty in society. Many Hindus believe that Jesus, the Buddha, and perhaps even Muhammad were all avatara of Vishnu. [link]
When Krishna was a child, he was a cowherder, remembered for his adoration and simple love for his cows. He is also famous for “lila,” or his pure divine play – everything, even slaughtering demons, became a game. So as a baby, he’s a mischief-maker beloved by all. [link]
I drew Mychasi as the adolescent / young adult Krishna, who is remembered as the Divine Lover. He is usually seen dancing with one or a number of women, cowherdesses called gopies. When it’s just one, the woman is named Radha, his favorite of the gopis. [link]
The images tell stories about how Krishna can split himself up into many, and venture off into the woods for liaisons with the gopis, during which he can fulfill their every need and desire. [link]
Far from being pornographic, they are images representative of absolute fulfillment – he is a deity who can fulfill any and everyone, man or woman, regardless of what it is in their lives that is missing – emotionally or superficially, bad or good.
Krishna is a darling of India, looked upon with great affection (non-sexual, mind!).He is supposed to be the most beautiful man who ever walked the earth, and the song of his flute is heartbreakingly lovely, irresistible to anyone who hears it. [link]
I have to agree on the lovliness of the details, he translates well from dragon to krishna and reverse. However... the knees look a little low... probably due to dragonness in which case ignore me, but that's really the only thing that bothers me about this. I'd love to see it inked and coloured!
Unique decorations and details. The pose and the idea of a dragon playing a flute is something I don't think I've ever seen before. Very original! Nice work >^.=.^<
I don't see any flaws in perception, proportion, or anything like that. It looks like everything in this pic is pretty spot on.
